The present volume contains catecheses and homilies of Father Emilianos Simonopetritus, spoken at the Holy Monastery of Simonos Petras and at the Holy Monastery of Ormylia between 1978 and 1982.
All of these texts represent the mature and flavorful essentialization of the profound and awakening meditation by Gheronda Emilianos on the patristic teachings on monasticism, the abbot, obedience, discipleship, reception in the monastery, the bonds between monks and their bond with the abbot. Old and more recent patristic writings, filtered through the personal experience of Abbot Emilianos that was born in his heart and that acquired through the guidance of the community, speak to the reader today and open the bright skies of monastic life.
