Such a theme is related to many aspects of Christian life: catechesis, liturgical life, prayer life – all of these are nourished by Scripture ‘shredded’ by the ‘teeth of the Church’, who are, according to St. Gregory of Nyssa, the great patristic teachers and theologians. The patristic exegesis of Scripture has influenced and continues to influence directly or indirectly all aspects of ecclesial life. One of the purposes of this volume is to present some of these interferences, overt or subtle, between the Scripture lived and interpreted by the Fathers and the many aspects of ecclesial life.”
